Managerial changes in Donegal

DUNGLOE announced the news last week that they have appointed Dessie Gallagher as their senior football manager.

Gallagher takes over the role from Robert Weherly. A former player, he has been involved in underage coaching in the club for many years, as well as at county development level. His backroom team includes Ronan Brennan, Jamie Sweeney, Stephen Gallagher and Tommy Grannell.

In last year’s Donegal Championship, Dungloe lost to Sean MacCumhaills by a goal and Four Masters beat them by 4-10 to 1-14.

The new manager of Ardara is Damian Devaney from Ballybofey. Former All-Ireland Donegal coach Anthony Harkin is the reserve manager. Adrian Brennan was Ardara manager last year. Ardara lost to Sean Mac Cumhaill’s by a point. They could only manage five points against the mighty Naomh Conaill who would go on to reach the final. They also lost to St Michael’s by two points.

There’s no change at Malin, as Robert Farren remains in charge of the senior men’s team. They had a fine run in the Intermediate Championship last year. They got as far as the semi-finals but lost out to Naomh Columba.

Glenfin are still in the process of confirming their manager. Mark McGinty was manager for 2020. They hope to confirm who will be in charge in a few weeks’ time.

In last year’s Donegal Senior Championship Glenfin beat Killybegs by six points, St Naul’s by six points, and they drew with Sean MacCumhaill’s.
