Down’s Jack Turley claims senior title in inaugural Monaghan Wallball Open

LAST Saturday saw the inaugural Monaghan Wallball Open handball tournament take place in Beech Hill College in Monaghan Town, hosted by the Monaghan County Handball Board.

Jack Turley from County Down claimed the Senior Open title against local player Terry McElvaney of the Monaghan Harps club on a scoreline of 21-11 after a fantastic battle on court.

In the A Grade, Emyvale clubman Callum Gallagher defeated Tyrone’s Eilise McCrory on a scoreline of 18-15 in another cracking final whilst in the B Final, Antrim’s Steven O’Neill took home Gold following a great match against Tyrone Handballer Jerry Keenan, ending 21-8.

Finally, in the Masters Final, Wexford’s David Stanners took on Emyvale’s Peter Larkin with both displaying impressive shots and athleticism throughout. Stanners claimed the title in the end – final score 21-12.
