THE race for the Volunteer Cup heats up this weekend with two Antrim Senior Hurling quarter-finals down for decision.
Holders St John’s put their title on the line against Glenariffe who are the reigning intermediate champions.
The Johnnies drew with Rossa before their victory over Ballycastle saw them qualify for the knock-out stages. Despite hitting three goals, they lost out to Loughgiel in the final group game.
Glenariffe’s win over Naomh Éanna has booked their knock-out spot but they’ll face a tougher nut in the champions this weekend.
The other quarter-final pits Feis Cup champions Cushendall against Ballycastle and they’ll be wary of the favourite’s tag this weekend.
Their defence managed to keep a clean sheet in the championship until Dunloy’s Keelan Molloy hit the net in the third game.
Joseph McLaughlin is their talisman in attack and will be a marked man this weekend.
Dunloy and Loughgiel already through to the semi-finals with the Shamrocks bidding for a first title since 2016.
Carey Faughs and Cushendun have advanced to the semi-final of the Intermediate Championship.
The Faughs edged out Creggan and St Gall’s in a mini league.
Creggan take on St Paul’s this weekend in one quarter-final with St Gall’s taking on Glenarm in the other.
The prize for the winner will an Ulster clash against Lavey who were crowned Derry champions on Sunday.
It’s semi-final weekend in the Junior Championship with Gort na Mona taking on Sarsfields and Armoy taking on Lámh Dhearg.
