Kevin Cassidy: Thanks for the Memories

In this weeks Gaelic Life columnist, Kevin Cassidy recounts the roller-coaster of emotions that a life in football brings with a mention of the celebrations in Gaoth Dobhair.

On Sunday past, Cassidy represented his club in a county final for the first time since 2006 as they captured their fifteenth county title.

After being awoken pre-celebrations by a Gaelic Life colleague asking about his weekly column, Cassidy speaks of his last recollection of the night before.

“My last recollection of the last night was opening a bottle of Remy Martin Brandy in Teach Mhici at around 5am and sharing a glass with our manager, Mervyn O’Donnell and his assistant Martin Coll.

“We looked each other in the eyes and just smiled as we knew we had achieved our goal.”

Recounting the ups and downs of a season alongside a career, Cassidy’s next objective was to “locate my gear bag so I can dust down the boots for training.”
