Big hitters collide in Monaghan semi-finals

MONAGHAN SENIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI FINALS

CLONTIBRET V BALLYBAY

Sunday, Clones, 2pm

CLONTIBRET edged out the first meeting between these sides during the group stages with one point to spare and ended up topping the group. That just about makes this favourites heading into this weekend.

Verdict: Clontibret

INNISKEEN V SCOTSTOWN

Sunday, Clones, 3.45pm

SCOTSTWN don’t seem to be the powerhouse they once were in Monaghan football but in saying that are still the team to beat. This is probably just a step too far for Inniskeen and Scotstown should advance.

Verdict: Scotstown

MONAGHAN JUNIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI FINALS

KILLANNY V SCOTSTOWN

Saturday, Cremartin, 4.30pm

SCOTSTOWN have been playing some great stuff this year, has have Killanny, which should set up a really exciting semi-final. It will go right down the stretch with Scotstown perhaps just having enough to edge through.

Verdict: Scotstown

DRUMHOWAN V CLONES

Saturday, Ballybay, 4.30pm

CLONES have been in excellent form and certainly look like they are the team to beat in the Junior Championship this season. They beat Drumhowan by six during the round robin stage of the competition and should be able to get the better of them once again.

Verdict: Clones
