MONAGHAN have made no changes to the starting line up that will take on Westmeath this weekend in a do or die contest. It’s all on the line for the two counties as they look to extend their seasons.
The Farney men are back on home turf once again, for the fifth time in six championship outings, when they welcome Mark McHugh’s Leinster champions to Clones.
Garbiel Bannigan’s men have already sent one provincial winner tumbling after their convincing victory over Connacht champions Roscommon last weekend. Bannigan has put his faith in the same 15 to get the job done against the men in maroon.
Stephen O’Hanlon and Stephen Mooney were late additions to the starting team last week, but have been named in the first 15 for the Round 3 encounter.
O’Hanlon did a fantastic man-marking job on Roscommon dangerman Darragh Heneghan while Stephen Mooney rattled the net for the second successive game.
Monaghan haven’t faced Westmeath in the championship since 2003, which they won 0-14 to 1-9 and they also defeated the Leinster side in their Division Two league campaign last season, 2-29 to 2-21.
