Urney appoint new management

By Niall Gartland

TYRONE club Urney have switched management early in the new season with the appointment of new manager Declan McGarrity.

Ederney men Aiden Gilroy and Enda Ferris were appointed to the job back in January, but there was a parting of ways and Urney have decided to place their trust in Cookstown native McGarrity, who will lead the team alongside Ruairi Cummins.

McGarrity was part of the St Patrick’s Donagh management that landed the Fermanagh junior title last season.

Training is understood to be going well under the new regime, who were quickly installed following the departure of Gilroy and Ferris.

While Urney have had a difficult few seasons, they steadied the ship last year under Dougie Corbett, reaching the semi-final of the Junior Championship, and will be aiming to push for promotion this season.

Things are also looking up at underage level, and they will go it along in the coming season at most age groups (last season they amalgamated at youth level with Naomh Eoghan.
