Five Minutes With… Cavan ladies’ Shauna Lynch

Name: Shauna Lynch

Age: 23

Occupation: Garda

Teams played for: Crosserlough, Garda College, Cavan Ladies

Game you most enjoyed playing in: Senior club championship final 2019

Game you least enjoyed playing in: Ulster Final 2016, we couldn’t manage to get our feet off the ground in front of a packed Clones.

Worst pitch ever played on:  Back pitch in Breffni, it has more sand in it than grass at the minute!

Toughest training session you’ve ever been involved in: Anyone who knows me will confirm that tough running sessions are not for me. Any sort of tackling drill involving Donna English when she’s in bad humour is up there also.

Preferred brand of gear: MFC are looking after us this year and the gear we got is great!

Most inspirational individual you’ve ever met: Una Byrd would bring a tear to your eye.

Where do you like to go out to celebrate: Kilnaleck or Skintown as it’s known locally.

What do you like to do when you are not training: I’m a real Netflix enthusiast in any free time I have.

Tv/film character you are most like: Rachel Zayn from Suits – a moody b*itch.

Which team mate are the first you’d invite on a night out: Rachael Doonan and not a team mate but Caoimhin O’Reilly from Butlersbridge, both of them always good for an instagram and we could discuss where we all get our eyebrows done.

Which team mate is the worst dancer:  Aisling Doonan, I’ve seen her whip out some very vintage moves.

Which team mate is the loudest in the changing room: Neasa Byrd after she has a few too many Haribos.

What’s the funniest thing you’ve ever seen happen in training/during a match: Sinead Greene’s shorts against Kerry this year….I’ll say no more.

Worst excuse to get out of training and from who? Can’t think of any but you’ll find it probably came from me.

Biggest ego: Ciara Finnegan

Worst/best person to sit next to on the team bus: Best – Neasa Byrd, it’s been an ongoing ritual since we were young ones.

Worst – Muireann Cusack, bound to fall asleep

Best to share a room with:  Kate McIntyre, as quiet as a mouse.

Who has the best diet and who has the worst and what does it consist of: Worst – My own diet consist of 4 in 1s from the Market house in Ballyjamesduff which speaks for itself.

Best – Sinead Greene is very disciplined!

Toughest opponent: Geraldine McLaughlin

Best/ worst quote: Donna English’s famous line “look good, feel good, play good”

Best manager: Mark Lynch

What frustrates you most about the GAA: That there’s no no set calendar in place. It leaves it hard to plan any holidays.

What is the best thing about being part of the GAA: The friendships I’ve made and the doors it opens for you. And also free into the Imperial after games thanks to Cavell Keogan.
