Five Minutes With…Fermanagh’s Sean McNally

Name: Sean McNally

Age: 19

Occupations: Student

Teams played for: Teemore Shamrocks, St Michael’s MacRory and Hogan winning teams, Fermanagh minors/under 20s/seniors

Game you most enjoyed playing in?

Hogan Final 2019, and Fermanagh senior debut versus Clare.

Game you least enjoyed playing in?

I don’t have one in particular but anytime I’m on the losing side it’s not enjoyable.

What’s the worst pitch you’ve ever played on?

Training in Lissan over winter is never good.

Toughest training session you’ve ever been involved in?

Can’t chose one, but any training with a lot of runs were tough for me.

What’s your preferred brand of gear?

Precision for goalkeeper gloves, other than that I don’t wear much else bar O’Neills.

Most inspirational individual you’ve ever met?

I’ve met a few people that have been inspirational but Dom Corrigan for me was great during MacRory. Also Mickey Harte spoke to us before a big game and he was great.

Where do you like to go out to celebrate?

I’d take any pub at the minute.

What do you like to do when you are not training/playing?

I play a lot of golf in spare time especially over the last few months. I don’t mind going for a few pints with the boys as well.

Which character in any film/tv show are you most like?

Rocky Balboa, so I’ve been told.

Which team mates (From any club/county) are the first you’d invite on a night out?

Any of the Teemore boys, I wouldn’t care which of them.

Which teammate is the worst dancer

Never seen any of the Fermanagh boys dance but for Teemore Jack McGann is terrible.

Which teammate is the loudest in the changing room?

Eoin Donnelly is a great talker before and after games.

What’s the funniest thing you’ve seen happen in training/during a match?

Darragh Clerkin took our goalkeeper’s cone and put it down his shorts to waste time. He came on five minutes before and got sent off straight away.

What’s the worst excuse you’ve heard to get out of training and who did it come from?

Haven’t heard an all-out worst but people bluffing injuries is common.

Biggest ego?

None that I have seen yet.

Worst/best person to sit next to on the team bus?

Haven’t been on bus with Fermanagh boys yet. Worst I’ve sat beside is James Hughes. He’s always looking for food.

I don’t really mind who else I sit beside because I just go to sleep anyway.

Who has the best diet, and who has the worst, and what do they consist of?

Not sure who has the best, but I would say I am up there with the worst, a lot of crisps are included in my diet.

Toughest opponent you have played against?

In training Ciaran Corrigan always scores goals. Sean Quigley is a very tough opponent too. A handful for any team to deal with.

Best manager you have played for?

I’ve played under a lot of managers but Dom Corrigan is the best by far. He always got the best of his players and it shows with the trophies he has won.

What frustrates you most about the GAA?

The smaller counties are not thought about in Croke Park. The GAA only cares about the big teams.

What is the best thing about being part of the GAA?

Brings the community together whether it is the club or county.
