Forker calls time on his Armagh career

FORMER Armagh All-Ireland winning captain Aidan Forker has called him on his inter-county career after 15 seasons.

He follows Rory Grugan, James Morgan and Ethan Rafferty who have signed off in the last week.

Forker made his debut in 2011 and will go down as the one of the county’s greatest servants.

In a post on his Instagram account, he recalled his first appearance in the jersey.

“Armagh has been part of my life since I was 18 years old. Some very difficult days and, eventually, days that I could only ever have dreamed about.  I’ve loved every bit of it,” he wrote.

“I still remember a cold, wet night in Navan in the O’Fiaich Cup in October 2011, being put in at number 6 alongside men I had grown up looking up to. I could never have imagined where the journey would go.

Forker thanked everyone involved in his journey – friends, family, coaches, backroom teams, teammates, supporters and everyone who gave their time to Armagh over those years.

He also expressed the pride in representing his club Maghery.

“I leave with no regrets,” he added. “Just enormous gratitude for the blessings I received in my football life. God is good .”
