Kavanagh steps down as Glen manager

By Michael McMullan

GLEN and Sleacht Néill are among clubs in Derry looking for a new senior football manager.

Rory Kavanagh has stepped down from his role with Glen.

The 2012 All-Ireland winner with Donegal took over from Malachy O’Rourke ahead of the 2025 season.

The Watties were beaten by Magherafelt in the semi-final of the Derry title this season.

Kavanagh had steered his native St Eunan’s to their first Donegal Senior Championship title in 2021.

Glen join neighbours Sleacht Néill in the search for a new manager.

New Antrim manager Mark Doran had been in charge at Emmet Park but stepped away following their semi-final defeat to Newbridge.

Claudy and Faughanvale are also on the lookout for a new manager.

James McNicholl will again be the at the helm with Dungiven.

They beat Newbridge in the first round before losing to Glen in the knock-out stages.

He will be able to call on players stepping off their minor winning team.

Before that, their minors have been drawn to play reigning champions Four Masters in the St Paul’s MFC in Belfast.

It is a repeat of the 2022 win by Dungiven with the Donegal side winning the next two Ulster titles.
