MacRory Cup knock-out action well underway

By Michael McMullan

REIGNING champions St Patrick’s Maghera and beaten finalists Abbey Donegal have made it through to the quarter-finals of the MacRory Cup.

A combined 0-8 from Odhrán Doherty and Darragh O’Neill saw Maghera edge St Paul’s Bessbrook at Owenbeg, 0-14 to 2-6.

Abbey hit three second half goals from Conor Gallagher McCahill, Eoghan Gallagher and Jay Cullen to see off Cathair Dhoire on Wednesday night, 3-11 to 0-9, after coming from a point behind at the break having played against the wind.

They will play St Mary’s Magherafelt who were 2-14 to 2-9 winners over St Michael’s Enniskillen on Wednesday night in Lavey.

Michael Lennon was in fine form for the winners with Lorcan Higgins hitting one goal and supplying the pass for Rossa player Michael Higgins to score the second.

Goals from Liam McGeary and Darragh Devlin were the key scores as St Patrick’s Dungannon ran out 2-13 to 0-14 against South West Donegal.
