O’Hagan appointed as new manager of Erne Gaels

By Michael McMullan

ARMAGH All-Ireland winner Barry O’Hagan has been confirmed as the new manager of Fermanagh champions Erne Gaels.

He takes over from Declan Bonner who steered the Belleek club to back-to-back titles in the Erne County.

O’Hagan had been appointed as joint manager of Derry side Lavey at the start of the season but has since stepped away.

Erne Gaels had recently called for expressions of interest in the role of senior manager ahead of the new season.

The club confirmed O’Hagan’s appointment on their social media channels over the weekend, with another Armagh man, Aidan Lloyd, as his assistant.

O’Hagan has been the Armagh U-20 manager for the last five seasons.

He was joint manager of Kilcar with Conor Cunningham when they won the Donegal senior league in 2022.

Erne Gaels opened their league at the weekend with a 1-12 to 0-8 win over Belnaleck.

When the championship rolls around, they will be bidding to complete a first three-in-a-row in the county since Derrygonnelly in 2018
