O’Kane joins Derry hurling management team

By Michael McMullan

NEW Derry senior hurling manager Johnny McGarvey has finalised his management ahead of the 2023 season.

McGarvey took over after Dominic McKinley and Cormac Donnelly stepped down at the start of the year.

Former Ulster winning captain Conor Murray and  strength and conditioning coach Oisin Quinn have been retained from the previous management team.

Gareth O’Kane, a former Derry player and Sleacht Néill captain, has also joined the management team.

Derry open their Division 2A campaign this weekend with the visit of Kerry.

McGarvey has had to prepare without over half of the panel (14 of the 26 squad listed in the programme) from their promotion final win over Sligo last season.

More buildup and an interview with the new Derry manager in Thursday’s Gaelic Life.
