BACK FOR ANOTHER BITE….Malachy O’Rourke will remain in charge of Monaghan next season

MONAGHAN GAA have confirmed that Malachy O’Rourke will remain in charge of the county team next season.

O’Rourke had taken time to mull over his future after the side’s Qualifier loss to Longford, but he has now committed to a fifth season in charge of the Oriel county.

“Following a period of reflection after Monaghan’s early exit from the Championship this year, Malachy O’ Rourke has confirmed that he will continue as Monaghan GAA senior men’s manager for a fifthsuccessive season,” Monaghan GAA said.

“In his four years year in charge Monaghan have won the Allianz Division Two and Three Leagues and reached an Allianz Division One semi-final in 2015.

“They will play in Division One once again in 2017. They have also won two Ulster Championships in 2013 and 2015, reached the final in 2014 and narrowly missed out on a place this year following a semi-final replay defeat to Donegal. Malachy and his backroom team are looking forward to the challenges a new season will bring.”
