Sleacht Néill appeal unsuccessful

SLEACHT Néill’s appeal to Derry GAA was unsuccessful on Tuesday night Gaelic Life can confirm.

The Emmet’s lodged an appeal following Sunday’s Derry SFC semi-final defeat to Newbridge.

The club have made the decision not to pursue the matter any further.

It’s understood the appeal was centered on two fronts.

Shane McGuigan not been awarded two-points for a shot that put them 1-16 to 0-18 ahead in stoppage time.

Secondly, from the resultant kick-out, the moving forward of a free that resulted in Conor Doherty kicking the champions back into the lead.

The final between Magherafelt and Newbridge takes place on Sunday in Celtic Park with Rossa bidding for a first title since 2019.

The Derry champions will play Dunloy at a home venue on week of November 1/2 in the Ulster Club Championship.
