Ulster University and ATU Donegal off to winning starts

A GOAL from Derry’s Ben McCarron helped Ulster University off to a winning start in Thursday night’s opening game at home to St Mary’s in the Higher Education League Division One.

The Steelstown man capitlaised on a defensive slip before firing home in a 1-8 to 0-4 victory for Barry Dillon’s side.

Their Fresher team got their season off to a winning start earlier in the day with Dara Quinn (2) and Jamie Doran scoring goals in a 3-13 to o-4 win over the Ranch.

There was also a win for ATU Donegal seniors (1-11 to 0-9) over QUB at the Dub, with Sean MacCumhaill’s player Joel Bradley Walsh finding the net.

In the Fresher game there was also a win for the Donegal side (2-9 to -1-8) with former county minor captain Luke McGlynn hitting 1-5.

In Division Three of the senior leagues UU Coleraine were 6-14 to 1-10 winners over UU Magee, with goals coming from Dylan Martin (2), Shea Conway, Arron Brennand and Oisin Cassidy.
