For the second time in four days, Queen’s University have been beaten by a single point in the Sigerson Cup.

This time it came in the new Round Two backdoor section with NUIG advancing to meet Garda College in Round Three.

NUIG raced into an early five point lead hitting 1-2 in quick succession with Cein Darcy netting for the Connacht institution.

Points from Ryan Treanor, Conor McCluskey and James McMahon drew the home side level, 1-2 to 0-5 at the break.

Callum O’Neill registered a major for Shane Mullholland’s side ten minutes into the second half as the sides remained deadlocked.

Kieran Molloy landed a monstrous effort to extend the Galway lead to three as the clock ran towards sixty minutes.

O’Neill landed two late scores but it wasn’t enough to salvage a result for his team as NUIG held out for a one point win.
