By Niall Gartland THE Knockbride ladies are riding the crest of a wave, but it doesn’t get much tougher than an all-or-nothing battle with a renaissant Donaghmoyne, who are comfortably the most successful team in the history of the Ulster Ladies Championship. Donaghmoyne are well and truly back, sealing their spot in Sunday’s Ulster Senior […]
By Shaun Casey SHANE O’Neill’s are set to take their first ever steps into senior provincial football and manager Sean O’Kane has a fully fit squad to pick from as they travel to Cavan to face Knockbride this weekend. The Camlough club did reach the All-Ireland Intermediate final 10 years ago, where they lost to Annaghdown […]
By Niall Gartland KNOCKBRIDE ladies are riding the crest of a wave – and that’s putting it mildly. They won a magnificent treble of Intermediate titles at county, provincial and national level in the 2025 season, and now they’ve followed that up with the Cavan Senior Championship title, producing a memorable upset a few weeks […]
By Daire Walsh IT wasn’t something she had necessarily envisaged, but late bloomer Tara Rogers will forever cherish winning an AIB All-Ireland intermediate club football championship title with Cavan’s Knockbride in 2025. Three weeks ago Rogers started at midfield as Knockbride recorded a commanding 3-10 to 0-4 triumph over Caltra Cuans of Galway in the […]
LONG before time was called in Saturday’s All-Ireland Intermediate final, Amie Lynch and her Knockbride colleagues knew they were bound for the steps of the Hogan Stand. They crushed Galway opponents Caltra on a scoreline of 3-10 to 0-4 and in doing so became the first-ever team from the Breffni County to win an All-Ireland […]
By Niall Gartland DAYS like these don’t come around too often for small, rural clubs like Knockbride – if ever. An All-Ireland Intermediate Ladies final at Croke Park is pencilled in for this Saturday afternoon, an occasion of such magnitude that it pretty much speaks for itself. In saying that, their manager Ciaran Galligan makes […]
By Niall Gartland THEY were favourites before a ball was thrown-in but Knockbride have certainly had to work for their place in Saturday’s Cavan Junior Championship final against Belturbet. Aidan McCabe’s side operated in Division One in the league and lost last year’s Junior Championship final against eventual All-Ireland champions Arva, so it’s no surprise […]
By Niall Gartland KNOCKBRIDE have borne the brunt of two significant disappointments over the course of the last 12 months, but manager Aidan McCabe says they aren’t looking in the rearview mirror ahead of tonight’s (Thursday) Junior Championship quarter-final against Munterconnaught. This time last year, Knockbride could have no complaints when they were beaten by […]
By Niall Gartland TO the surprise of very few people, Saturday’s Cavan Junior Championship final (Kingspan Breffni, 5.30pm) showdown will consist of Knockbride and Arva. They were the two big favourites from the starting gun and both have advanced to the final with nary a scratch to be seen. This may be ‘Junior football’ but […]
