Nominees: 2023 Hurling Manager of the Year

Below are the nominees for the 2023 Hurling Manager of the Year sponsored by Hillgrove Hotel. Find out more about this year’s shortlisted nominees below.

Brian Delargy – Cushendall

Brian Delargy led Cushendall to the promised land in Antrim, as they collected the championship crown and broke the Dunloy stranglehold. But that wasn’t enough, and they captured the Ulster title for the first time since 2018 and were just one-point away from reaching the All-Ireland final as they lost to O’Loughlin Gaels.

Niall Cleary & Kevin Campbell – Setanta

Player managers Niall Cleary & Kevin Campbell were inspirational figures for Setanta this season, leading the Donegal club on and off the field of play. The pair helped Setanta to provincial glory in 2022 at junior level and they took it one step further in 2023, going on complete an impressive double, adding the Ulster Intermediate title to their trophy cabinet.

Kevin Moloney – Castleblayney

Despite losing the Monaghan final by the minimum of margins, Moloney’s side went on an impressive run in Ulster, deservingly landing the provincial title. A heroic comeback in the quarter-final saw them reach the last four of the All-Ireland series although they were overpowered by Kilkenny’s Tullogher-Rosbercon, the eventual All-Ireland winners.

Voting opens at 10am on Thursday 1st February and will close at 10am on Monday 5th February. Votes do not determine the final winners but help create awareness of the nominee’s shortlisting. The winner of this category will be announced at our Gala Awards Night at the Hillgrove Hotel, Monaghan on Friday 1st March 2024.
