GAELIC Life columnist Kevin Cassidy believes that Diarmuid Connolly was not afforded any protection in Dublin’s win against Carlow.

The forward has been handed a proposed 12-week ban following an altercation with linesman Ciaran Brannigan, but Cassidy believes his frustrations were understandable – although he said that an official should never be touched.

“Connolly was man-handled by at least three Carlow players, does he not deserve the same protection as the officials?”
