All-Ireland 7s glory for Belnaleck

FERMANAGH club Belnaleck were crowned Beacon Hospital All-Ireland Football 7s champions on Saturday after a two-point win over Trillick, St Macartan’s in the Kilmacud Crokes tournament.

Teams from all across the country competed for the coveted title and it was the Fermanagh side that came out on top after a 1-11 to 1-9 win over the Tyrone team in the decider.

Belnaleck club chairman, Tony Presley, was delighted with the success of his players, who competed in the Kilmacud Crokes Beacon Hospital All-Ireland Football 7s tournament for the first time.

“Today (Saturday) is a special day in our club’s history,” he said after the Art MacMurrough’s success.

“This morning a handful of Belnaleck men made the journey to Dublin to take on the best of the rest in the Kilmacud Crokes 7s a-side All Ireland competition. They only went and won it.

“A huge congratulations to them all, players and management. I’m sure it’s a day they will always remember and relish.

“To say congratulations and well done, doesn’t convey the pride we all have for you this evening,” said the Belnaleck club chairman.
