The Marathon match completed the world record yesterday

The 24 hour record-breaking marathon match came to an end at Garvaghey yesterday, as the two squads completed the incredible feat of playing a match from Saturday to Sunday.

42 players from across the province kept the game going from Saturday through to Sunday, as they raised money for Cancer NI and the Michaela Foundation. In total £50,000 was raised, and there were 150 volunteers who took part.

Mickey Harte welcomed the team as they finished the game, and pointed out that it had been a team effort to achieve the record. He congratulated the team for creating the world record. He further thanked the families who helped out, and highlighted the incredible amount of logistics that went into making the record possible.

Unsurprisingly there were plenty of reaction on Twitter as Gaels praised the participants for their great effort.
