“I think post-match hostility would be a better question”

THIS week we look at Tiarnan Bogue and his opponents…

Tiarnan Bogue.

Age:

24.

Teams played for:

Tempo Maguires, St Michael’s College, Fermanagh. Queen’s University Belfast.

Who are your main rivals?

Traditionally it would be Brookeborough on the club scene.

Which opposition ground do you like playing on and why?

Ederney – great surface and facility.

Which opposition ground do you dislike going to and why?

Newtownbutler’s old pitch was always difficult to get a result – and to find a level patch of grass.

What team have you enjoyed the most success against?

Dangerous question but I suppose as I’m now finished playing university football I can say I never lost to Ulster University at the Dub arena.

Which team have you enjoyed least success against?

Derrygonnelly.

Which opposition player have you enjoyed marking?

University football gave me the opportunity to mark All-Star midfielders such as Thomas Galligan and Conor Glass. These weren’t necessarily enjoyable experiences, but it is nice to say you have played against players of that calibre.

Which opposition player have you disliked marking?

Marked Caolan Mooney in my McKenna Cup debut. I was young and light and found his power and pace difficult to deal with.

Which player would you transfer in from a team you have come up against?

Since the departure of Lorcan McStravick to Doha, we could do with another forward. I would like to have a sit down with Sean Quigley (Roslea) to discuss terms and conditions.

Which team, apart from your own, do you like to see do well and why?

I’ll have to give the student house a shout-out here : Belleeks (Armagh), Bryansford (Down), Killyclogher (Tyrone) and Derrylin (Fermanagh).

What’s the most frustrating defeat you have experienced?

Recent loss to UCC on penalties was frustrating, especially considering we felt a few key refereeing decisions could have definitely went our way.

What’s the most satisfying victory you have experienced?

Belcoo in the championship semi-final last year, against Cavan in the National League two years ago and against Ulster University in the Sigerson Cup.

What is the best score you’ve seen from an opponent?

Sean Quigley during Roslea against Tempo in the Fermanagh Senior Championship semi-final a few years ago. Outside of the left around the 45 out on the wing. Sweet as a nut.

Which team, apart from your own, do you expect big things of in the coming years?

Irvinestown have good youth coming through, as do Newtownbutler. Be interesting to see how those teams push on over the next few years.

Best opponent for post-match hospitality?

I think post-match hostility would be a better question.

Which club, apart from your own, has the most impressive facilities?

Ederney and Roslea GAA have fantastic facilities. Probably both leading the way in Fermanagh.
