McBrearty ruled out of Division Two final

DONEGAL skipper Paddy McBrearty has sustained a ‘fairly significant injury’ that rules him out of Sunday’s Division Two decider against Armagh.

McBrearty sustained a leg injury in last weekend’s league encounter against Meath and underwent a scan yesterday to suss out the extent of the damage.

Speaking at last night’s launch of the Ulster Championship, manager Jim McGuinness issued an update on McBrearty and Ryan McHugh, who has a shoulder problem.

Confirming that McBrearty will play no part against Armagh, McGuinness added: “Paddy was in Dublin for a scan today [Monday] so we’ll have to see how that is.

“Hopefully Ryan won’t be too bad. We’ll see how he is on Tuesday night when the medical team assesses him. Paddy definitely won’t be involved [against Armagh]. We’ll have to wait to see on Ryan.”
