Armagh to propose knock-out championship

ARMAGH GAA are set to ask Orchard clubs to approve a straight knock-out championship for 2020, Gaelic Life understands.

Clubs are to be made aware of plans in the coming days and the main change will see a temporary removal of the group stages that have been in place for the last two seasons.

That system relies on league placings, but it is understood that the plan this year is to run the championship in the middle of a reduced seven-game league season. Promotion and relegation are expected to remain on the table.

Clubs will also be made aware of dates with September 20 being mooted as a possible final spot.
