Ballybay out to end long wait for title

BALLYBAY

Management:

Colin Malone (manager), Seamus Markey, Kieran McElvaney and Martin Fox (selectors).

Championship programme:

Monaghan SFC Group One

Ballybay v Clontibret, July 26

Magheracloone v Ballybay, August 2

Ballybay v Donaghmoyne, August 9

Inniskeen v Ballybay, August 16

Team news:

Ballybay, as usual, enter the season as one of the favourites for the Mick Duffy Cup, but they are chasing their first title since 2012. More surprisingly, they have only been in one final in that period too, the 2018 loss to Scotstown. Colin Malone returns as manager and they the Pearse Brothers have everyone back involved from last year. Four players from last year’s u-17 squad have also been added to the senior squad. Monaghan defender Drew Wylie is captain this season while Shane McGuinness is vice-captain and there will be an expectancy that they will go far in the competition. Scotstown have ended their season for the last four years with two of those defeats coming in semi-final replays. It’s clear they are not far away.
