Ciaran McKeever added to Armagh backroom team

CIARAN McKeever has been added to Kieran McGeeney’s Armagh management team as a coach.

The Cullyhanna man will join Kieran Donaghy in the Orchard set up following the decision of Jim McCorry, Paddy McKeever and John Toal to stay away.

McKeever has been in charge of the Armagh minors for the last two seasons and the young coach has also made a big impression with Down club Mayobridge.

An All-Ireland u-21 winning captain in 2004, McKeever went on to play alongside McGeeney for three seasons under Joe Kernan. He was also coached by McGeeney in 2014, and managed by him from 2015 until his inter-county retirement at the end of the 2017 season.

Jim McGuinness had been linked to a role in the Armagh management team recently, but sources close to the process informed Gaelic Life that there was no substance in such claims.

Meanwhile, Peter McDonnell is expected to continue as Armagh’s u-20 manager in 2021.
