Ladies expenses move welcomed

The LGFA’s Management Committee decided this week that expenses at 30 cents per mile for traveling teams will apply on match days.

It comes on the back of October’s announcement that the Association would be doing likewise for the All-Ireland Championships.

The issue of expenses for female GAA players has long been a hot topic, and Corrigan said that it was good to see some progress on the matter.

“You can see that change is definitely happening, slowly but surely,” she said.

“That little bit of change to travelling expenses, that definitely is a great boost for the players.

“We’ve never been recognised for all the travelling that we do, like male players have been. Hopefully it will be the start of more things to come for female players.”
