Magheracloone aiming to build on super 2019 run

MAGHERACLOONE

Management:

James Kieran (manager), Jodie Clarke (trainer) and Frankie Doogan and Paul Jones (selectors).

Championship programme:

Monaghan SFC Group One

Inniskeen v Magheracloone, July 26

Magheracloone v Ballybay, August 2

Clontibret v Magheracloone, August 9

Magheracloone v Donaghmoyne, August 23

Team news:

Magheracloone’s relegation to the intermediate grade in 2018 was a surprise, but they responded in what was almost the perfect fashion as they won Monaghan and Ulster Intermediate titles before coming up short in the All-Ireland final against Galway’s Oughterard. Michael Jones, who played corner-back at Croke Park that evening, has retired while Peter Tuite will miss the season due to a cruciate injury. Tommy Freeman is back for another season, though. The Mitchell’s should go into this campaign bursting with enthusiasm. It was a long 2019 season but the enforced lockdown would have given them some needed time off.
