Seven Saffrons make Joe McDonagh Team of the Year

ANTRIM’S All-Ireland triumph in December has earned the county seven spots on the GAA/GPA 2020 Joe McDonagh Cup Team of the Year – while Conor McCann has been named Player of the Year.

Darren Gleeson’s side produced an excellent final display against Kerry at Croke Park to round off what was a great season for the Saffrons.

The Kingdom have five representatives on the team, Carlow have two and Westmeath have one.

In defence, Antrim’s Matthew Donnelly, Stephen Rooney and Gerard Walsh have been included, as has midfielder Keelan Molloy. Up front, Conor McCann, Niall McKenna and Ciaran Clarke have been honoured.

McCann also collected the Player of the Year award after a fabulous run. The Creggan Kickham’s clubman scored 4-20 from play over the course of a campaign that ended with the title.

A special programme to honour the GAA/GPA 2020 Joe McDonagh Team of the Year will be featured on RTÉ 2fm’s Game On programme this Wednesday evening from 6pm.
